Treatments
  1. Palms and soles: Drysol (20% aluminum chloride) applied each evening. Applying Seran Wrap on top of it (held in place by a stocking) will enhance its penetration and effectiveness

  2. Face and/or axillae: xerac AC (6% aluminum chloride in ethanol) applied each evening.

  3. Iontophoresis

  4. Antianxiety agents (such as amitriptyline)


Hair Loss

Telogen effluvium

Causes: 1. operation
2. Trauma
3. Childbirth
4. Infection/high fever

Prognosis:  Most or all of the hair will regrow.


Treatable causes of hair loss:

1. "Male pattern", 80% of men and 20% of women
Rx: Rogaine 1cc twice daily, 30% of men, and 16% of women respond, and must be tried for twelve months. If there is a response it must be continued for 1

Anemia CBC 8 a.m. serum iron
Hyper/hypothyroid T4 TSH
Syphilis VDRL or RPR
Lupus ANA lesional 8x for M&E and IF if disoid
