  • Databases for Evidence Based Health Care:
    • ACP PIER
        - "a decision-support tool designed for rapid point-of-care delivery of evidence-based guidance for physicians. Modules focus on the diagnosis and treatment of diseases." Designed and published by The American College of Physicians. Available via STAT!Ref.
    • Bandolier Evidence-based Health Care
      - Each month PubMed and the Cochrane Library are searched for systematic reviews and meta-analyses published in the recent past. Those that look remotely interesting are read, and where they are both interesting and make sense, they appear in Bandolier, first in the paper version and, after six months, on the website.
    • Center on Aging Policy's Evidence Database
    • CINAHL
      - Cumulative Index to Nursing & Allied Health via WebSPIRS. University of Utah users only.
    • Cochrane Library
      - supplies high quality evidence in health care. Includes the Database of Systematic Reviews, ..and much more.
    • DynaMed
      - Point of care information for healthcare professionals. DynaMed contains clinically organized summaries of nearly 1,800 topics and is updated daily from review of the research literature."
    • MEDLINE via PubMed
      - from the National Library of Medicine
    • PubMed's Clinical Queries
    • - search filters are based on the work of Haynes RB et al.
    • National Guideline Clearinghouse
      - produced by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) (formerly the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research [AHCPR]), in partnership with the American Medical Association (AMA) and the American Association of Health Plans (AAHP).
    • NCBI/Entrez cross-database search page
      - search all databases from NCBI/Entrez.
    • NLM Gateway
      - "one-stop shopping" for many of NLM's information resources. NLM Gateway's Fact Sheet.
    • SUMSearch
      - combines meta-searching and contingency searching in order to automate searching the internet for medical evidence. From Dr. Bob Badgett at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center. Add SUMSearch via browser plugins. Free.
